What is Girls' DJ 101/the Girls' DJ Collective?

Girls' DJ 101 teaches girls and women fundamental DJ skills. This free program provides women and girls with a hands-on opportunity to experiment with everything from spinning records to beat-matching to equipment set-up. All sessions use professional DJ and sound equipment; our advisory board consists of successful women in the Philadelphia music industry (DJs, writers, editors, and more). Along with our lead DJ artist Lisa Love, Girls' DJ co-founders Carolyn Chernoff and Rashida Holmes teach this course as an introduction to DJing so that participants can cold-rock a house party by the end of the 10th session.

What are your upcoming events and programs?

Watch Out for the Big Girls!
First Saturdays of the month, join Girls' DJ for our regular radio show, "Watch Out for the Big Girls!" , with Miss Meow and DJ Giggles on Radio Volta, Philly's own internet radio station. We'll take you from back in the day to around the block as we remind you that all music is dance music. Tune in via computer from 2-4 EST every first Saturday of the month.

Please contact Carolyn at carolyn@girlsdj.com or Rashida at rashida@girlsdj.com for more information!

Can Girls' DJ rock my house party at the drop of a hat?

While we require at least a few days' advance notice, Girls' DJ members are available for paid private and public gigs. We have equipment, we have the Larnell Price Memorial Sound System, we have hot tunes, and we have mad skills. Please contact Rashida for more details and prices.

How can I get involved?

To register for the DJ course, join our mailing list, make donations, ask questions, and generally keep up to date on Girls' DJ Collective courses and events, please e-mail Rashida.
