What is Girls' DJ 101/the Girls' DJ Collective? Girls' DJ 101 teaches girls and women fundamental DJ skills. This free program provides women and girls with a hands-on opportunity to experiment with everything from spinning records to beat-matching to equipment set-up. All sessions use professional DJ and sound equipment; our advisory board consists of successful women in the Philadelphia music industry (DJs, writers, editors, and more). Along with our lead DJ artist Lisa Love, Girls' DJ co-founders Carolyn Chernoff and Rashida Holmes teach this course as an introduction to DJing so that participants can cold-rock a house party by the end of the 10th session. While we require at least a few days' advance notice, Girls' DJ members are available for paid private and public gigs.
